The little Venice of Berry

To the rhythm of the Creuse, sometimes calm and serene, sometimes swirling and lively, Argenton reveals itself through the narrow streets of yesteryear, old mills with wheels, houses with wooden galleries as if suspended above the river...

La boucle du Pin

"This hillock, sloping down to the bed of the Creuse, resembles a landslide which has flowed peacefully between the two rocky ramparts, which rise up on either side and enclose, as far as the eye can see, the course of the river in the sinuosities of their jagged walls". George Sand. Promenade autour d’un village, (A walk around a village), 1866.

Gargilesse

Classified since 1982 as one of the most beautiful villages in France, it now welcomes many tourists and pilgrims attracted by the romantic charm of its tightly-packed houses, with sloping roofs covered with brown tiles, squeezed around the castle.
